WHO Hands Over KSh 43 Million Maternal and Cancer Care Equipment to Kenya

Nairobi | 10 June 2026

Kenya’s Ministry of Health has received maternal and cancer care equipment worth KSh 43 million from the World Health Organization to strengthen services for women and newborns.

The handover, announced by the Ministry on 10 June, is intended to support maternal health, newborn care, and cancer-related services across health facilities in the country.

The equipment forms part of ongoing cooperation between Kenya and WHO to improve health outcomes for women, reduce preventable maternal and newborn deaths, and expand access to quality care.

Kenya continues to prioritize Universal Health Coverage reforms, with maternal health and cancer care remaining central areas of public health investment. The additional equipment is expected to support frontline facilities and improve service readiness.

The Ministry said the support aligns with broader efforts to strengthen health systems, improve access to essential services, and ensure that women and newborns receive timely care.
