Health authorities have warned that the ongoing Ebola outbreak could become one of the largest recorded outbreaks involving the Bundibugyo strain if transmission is not rapidly contained.

According to updates provided by WHO and Africa CDC, confirmed cases continue to increase in affected areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

Health officials cited challenges including delayed case detection, insecurity in affected communities, population movement, and limited healthcare access in some outbreak zones.

The organizations have called for increased international support to strengthen surveillance, laboratory capacity, and community engagement efforts.

Field teams continue to monitor thousands of contacts identified through tracing activities.
