EA News Health Report
Uganda’s Ministry of Health and public health agencies are strengthening disease surveillance systems as part of efforts to improve preparedness for infectious disease outbreaks across the country.
The country has previously demonstrated strong outbreak response capacity during health emergencies such as Ebola and other viral diseases, and officials are continuing to expand laboratory testing networks and community-based surveillance systems.
Health experts emphasize that early detection remains critical in preventing the rapid spread of infectious diseases, particularly in regions with significant cross-border movement of people and goods.
Training programs for frontline health workers and laboratory technicians are also being expanded to ensure that suspected outbreaks can be quickly identified and reported.
Strengthened surveillance systems are expected to play an important role in improving both national and regional health security across East Africa.
