Tanzania is emerging as a key logistics hub as the EAC rolls out a long-term development strategy focused on infrastructure and trade corridors.

Tanzania is solidifying its position as a strategic gateway for East African trade, following the rollout of the EAC 7th Development Strategy (2026–2031).

At the heart of the strategy is a strong emphasis on transport and logistics infrastructure, particularly the expansion of the Central Corridor linking the Port of Dar es Salaam to landlocked countries such as Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

With billions already invested in railway modernization and port upgrades, Tanzania is increasingly becoming the backbone of regional supply chains. These investments are expected to reduce transit times, lower the cost of goods, and unlock new economic opportunities across the region.

For Tanzania, this is more than infrastructure, it is a strategic positioning that places the country at the center of East Africa’s economic transformation.
