Tanzania Announces TSh 62.33 Trillion Government Budget for 2026/27

Dodoma | 11 June 2026

Tanzania’s Ministry of Finance announced a TSh 62.33 trillion government budget for the 2026/27 financial year, setting the country’s fiscal direction for the next phase of national development.

The Ministry published the Government Budget Speech for 2026/27 on 11 June, alongside public updates highlighting the scale of the new budget.

The fiscal plan comes as Tanzania continues to prioritize infrastructure, domestic resource mobilisation, energy, agriculture, industrial development, and public service delivery.

The budget also reflects a wider regional pattern in which East African governments are placing greater emphasis on self-reliance, revenue mobilisation, and tighter management of public resources.

Tanzania’s development agenda remains closely tied to infrastructure expansion, energy access, trade facilitation, and private sector growth, all of which are expected to feature prominently in implementation of the 2026/27 budget.
