Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, led a high-level delegation to the Cross-Border Health Security Summit in Brazzaville to advance regional synchronization. This summit focused on the logistical challenges of managing health security across borders, particularly the movement of personnel and medical supplies during infectious disease outbreaks. From a global supply chain perspective, this summit is vital for harmonizing regulatory standards and surveillance protocols between EAC and neighboring blocs. PS Muthoni emphasized that regional health security is only as strong as its weakest link, calling for the establishment of "green lanes" for essential medical commodities. The Kenyan delegation’s participation underscores the country's commitment to the "One Health" approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health data into a single operational framework. For infrastructure planners, this dialogue facilitates the development of joint emergency response centers and shared laboratory networks, which are essential for maintaining regional economic stability. By fostering this cross-border cooperation, Kenya and its partners are building a buffer against the types of supply chain collapses witnessed during previous global pandemics.
