President Ruto Meets British High Commissioner, Advances Kenya-UK Economic Partnership and National Infrastructure Fund

President William Ruto held talks with British High Commissioner to Kenya Matt Baugh at State House, Nairobi on 23 July 2026, focusing on deepening bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment, and strengthening cooperation on regional peace and security.

Ruto said discussions centred on leveraging the Kenya-United Kingdom Economic Partnership Agreement to unlock greater trade, investment and shared economic opportunities. The President also briefed the High Commissioner on the implementation of Kenya's National Infrastructure Fund, highlighting its role in financing strategic development projects and exploring potential areas of partnership with the United Kingdom.

The meeting built on the Kenya-UK Strategic Partnership framework signed between President Ruto and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in 2025, which targets doubling bilateral trade volume to 3.6 billion dollars by 2030. Ruto reaffirmed the two leaders' commitment to promoting regional peace and security, noting that stability remains critical to economic growth and sustainable development.
