Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Delegated Legislation to present the Tariffs for Healthcare Services Amendment Regulations, 2026.

The Ministry of Health said the proposed amendments are intended to strengthen Universal Health Coverage and improve financial protection for Kenyans.

The regulations form part of ongoing reforms under the Social Health Authority, which is replacing previous health financing arrangements with a broader social health insurance model.

The Ministry has presented the reforms as part of a wider effort to make healthcare financing more predictable, improve claims management, and protect households from high out-of-pocket costs.

The tariff review is also expected to affect how health facilities are reimbursed for services under the new system.
