Africa CDC calls for stronger protection of Ebola responders after US aid worker infected

Kenya's Ministry of Health formally began preparations for the Presidential National Health Summit 2026 following the inaugural meeting of a National Planning Committee chaired by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale. The ministry described the summit as a national forum intended to review the country's health reform progress under President William Ruto's administration and to chart the next phase of reforms toward Universal Health Coverage.

Duale told the committee the summit would showcase reforms across health financing, primary healthcare, digital health, legislation, governance and regulation achieved over the past three and a half years, while also examining remaining gaps. He called on planning committees and participating institutions to demonstrate measurable outcomes and practical recommendations rather than simply highlighting achievements.

The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, the Director General for Health, heads of ministry directorates and divisions, and chief executives of the ministry's state corporations and regulatory agencies.
