Kenya health ministry reviews audit committee progress on governance

Nairobi, 15 July 2026 – Kenya's Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening governance, accountability and prudent management of public resources, following a meeting between Principal Secretary for Medical Services Ouma Oluga and the Ministerial Audit Committee at the ministry's Afya House headquarters. The meeting, chaired by committee chair Lloyd Metha, reviewed the committee's progress ahead of the end of its tenure the following month.

The Committee commended the ministry for its support and collaboration, noting progress in implementing audit recommendations, strengthening internal controls and promoting accountability within the State Department for Medical Services. The review forms part of continuing efforts by the ministry to reinforce financial governance across its programmes as it advances the Taifa Care universal health coverage agenda.
