Kenya’s Ministry of Health has called on citizens to embrace voluntary blood donation as a lifesaving contribution to the health system.
Speaking during World Blood Donor Day activities in Garissa, Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale said blood donation supports emergency care, maternal health, surgeries, cancer treatment and the management of severe medical conditions.
The Ministry said safe and sufficient blood supply remains essential for health facilities, especially in emergency and referral care.
The call comes as Kenya continues to strengthen its blood transfusion system through regional infrastructure, public awareness, and improved collection and distribution systems.
World Blood Donor Day is marked globally to recognize donors and promote access to safe blood for all patients who need transfusion services.
