The International Organization for Migration has announced a new housing scheme to advance durable solutions for 600 displacement-affected households in Mogadishu.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to address Somalia’s long-running displacement crisis, where conflict, climate shocks, and urban vulnerability continue to affect households seeking stable shelter and services.
IOM said the scheme is intended to support durable solutions for families affected by displacement, moving beyond short-term assistance toward more sustainable housing support.
Mogadishu remains one of Somalia’s main destinations for internally displaced people, many of whom face limited access to secure shelter, livelihoods, water, health care, and protection services.
The housing scheme reflects a broader shift in humanitarian and development programming toward longer-term solutions that link shelter, urban planning, resilience, and basic service access.
