IGAD Advances Resilience Agenda at World Bank Fragility Forum

Washington, D.C. | 15 June 2026

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development reported that it strengthened partnerships and advanced its resilience agenda during participation in the World Bank Fragility Forum.

The engagement took place in Washington, D.C., with IGAD highlighting regional priorities linked to fragility, resilience, peace, and development cooperation.

IGAD’s participation comes as countries in the Horn of Africa continue to face overlapping pressures from conflict, displacement, climate shocks, food insecurity, and economic vulnerability.

The regional body has positioned resilience as a central development priority, particularly in areas affected by recurrent drought, forced displacement, and insecurity.

The World Bank Fragility Forum provided a platform for IGAD to engage development partners on approaches that connect humanitarian response, peacebuilding, climate resilience, and long-term development programming.
