East Africa Health Report
Nairobi | 04–08 June 2026
Health ministries across East Africa have strengthened preparedness measures as regional concern grows over the Ebola outbreak affecting Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Governments in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and other neighboring countries have increased surveillance activities at airports, border crossings, and health facilities.
The measures include enhanced screening procedures, expanded laboratory readiness, training of healthcare workers, emergency stockpiling of medical supplies, and activation of rapid response teams.
Several countries have also intensified public awareness campaigns aimed at helping communities recognize symptoms and report suspected cases quickly.
Regional health agencies continue to coordinate preparedness activities through existing cross-border health security mechanisms.
