Regional leaders commit to fixing food systems through coordinated policy, innovation, and value chain investment.

At a regional convening on 6 April 2026, policymakers and development partners endorsed a new roadmap aimed at accelerating agrifood systems transformation across Eastern Africa.

According to the report released by development stakeholders, the strategy focuses on improving access to inputs, strengthening value chains, and addressing post-harvest losses, issues that continue to undermine food security across the region.

Speaking during the release, regional agricultural experts emphasized that fragmented national approaches have limited impact, calling for coordinated regional action to address systemic inefficiencies.

The roadmap also prioritizes climate-resilient agriculture, reflecting growing concern over erratic rainfall patterns affecting productivity.
