The African Development Bank listed a Somalia project appraisal report dated 17 June 2026 for the Strengthening Economic Governance and Infrastructure Development Project.
The project falls within the Bank’s project operations pipeline for Somalia and is focused on economic governance and infrastructure development.
Somalia continues to face major development constraints linked to institutional capacity, infrastructure gaps, fiscal management, climate shocks and recovery from conflict.
The project is therefore relevant to the country’s wider reform agenda, including strengthening public institutions and creating conditions for improved service delivery and investment.
Infrastructure development remains one of Somalia’s most pressing development needs, particularly in transport, energy, water, urban systems and economic connectivity.
The AfDB listing indicates continued institutional engagement with Somalia’s recovery and development priorities, at a time when the country is also deepening regional integration through the East African Community.
