The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), in its weekly public health brief, underscored the urgent need to strengthen surveillance systems and outbreak response mechanisms across the continent.
The agency emphasized workforce development, laboratory capacity, and multisectoral coordination as critical pillars of resilient public health systems. Officials warned that delayed detection continues to undermine response efforts in several countries facing emerging and re-emerging disease threats.
Africa CDC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Member States through technical guidance, capacity building, and coordinated regional monitoring.
Strengthening early detection systems remains a central focus in preventing small outbreaks from escalating into wider public health crises.
