EAC launches online courses to strengthen regional statistical capacity

Arusha, 17 July 2026

The East African Community Secretariat launched a series of self paced online courses intended to strengthen statistical capacity across its Partner States, part of continuing efforts to improve the quality and comparability of regional data used for planning and policy making. The initiative is intended to support national statistical offices and other institutions responsible for producing official data across the Community's member states.

The launch follows the Community's continuing rollout of its 7th Development Strategy for the 2026 to 2031 period, which prioritises digital transformation and institutional strengthening as pillars of deeper regional integration. Improved statistical capacity is intended to support more reliable cross border comparisons of economic and social indicators as the bloc advances its regional integration agenda.
