The East African Development Brief
Nairobi | 04 June 2026
More than 500 representatives from humanitarian organizations, donor agencies, UN institutions, development partners, and private-sector companies gathered in Nairobi this week for AidEx Africa 2026.
The event focused on challenges and opportunities shaping aid delivery across Africa, including financing pressures, localization efforts, climate resilience, digital innovation, logistics, and humanitarian preparedness.
Participants discussed the increasing importance of local organizations in delivering development programmes and emergency response interventions.
The conference also examined the role of technology in improving operational efficiency, accountability, and impact measurement across development initiatives.
Nairobi's position as a regional hub for humanitarian operations and development coordination was reflected in the strong participation from international organizations and regional institutions.
Several sessions focused on adapting aid systems to respond to growing climate-related emergencies and protracted displacement crises across the continent.
