The African Development Bank Group has renewed a key partnership with the Korea Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management, strengthening collaboration on human capital development and knowledge exchange between Africa and the Republic of Korea.
During an official visit to South Korea in November 2025, the Bank’s Vice President for People and Talent Management, Jacques Edjangue, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) extending a partnership that began in 2014. The renewed agreement will give Bank staff opportunities to gain practical insights from Korea’s development experience and apply them to Africa’s structural transformation and economic growth. At the same time, it will offer KDI students internship opportunities at the Bank, fostering a two-way exchange of expertise.
“The renewed MOU with the African Development Bank Group strengthens our partnership and commitment to human capital development and knowledge exchange,” said Dr. Joon-Kyung Kim, Dean of the KDI School. He noted that the collaboration would expand joint initiatives supporting Africa’s sustainable and inclusive growth.
During the visit, Edjangue met with government agencies, private sector leaders, and academic institutions in Seoul and Daejeon, including Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, the KDI Global Knowledge Exchange & Development Center, KAIST, the Korea-Africa Foundation, and LG. He also engaged with representatives of the African diplomatic community in Korea, sharing the Bank’s vision for a prosperous, dynamic, and climate-resilient Africa.
Edjangue participated in Korea’s International Financial Institutions Career Fair, encouraging young professionals to explore opportunities with the Bank through its Young Professionals Program and other career pathways. He praised Korea’s development journey as an example of rapid, inclusive transformation and highlighted its leadership in AI, robotics, green technologies, and culture as inspiration for Africa’s innovation-driven growth.
The Bank reaffirmed its commitment to deepening ties with Korea through platforms such as KOAFEC, the African Development Fund replenishment, KAEIF, and the Knowledge Sharing Program.
